Jagmohan Dalmiya, the outgoing president of the BCCI, has postponed the Annual General Meeting till 5 pm as the order of the division bench of the Tamil Nadu high court was not available. The division bench of the high court had stayed the appointment of Justice S Mohan, retired judge of the Supreme court of India as observer. Single judge bench of the same high court had appointed Justice Mohan in an ex-parte order on Tuesday.

The meeting, adjourned till 4.00 pm, was postponed for a third time by another hour till 5.00 pm.

A BCCI official said that the stay order of the Madras High Court, which was being awaited by the Board, had arrived and was being studied.

"It will take some time to start the meeting. It is expected to start at 5.00 pm," he said.

The meeting, scheduled to start at 11 am, was initially adjourned till 2.30 pm before the Board postponed it till 4.00 pm.

Talking to rediff.com, Justice Mohan who had reached Kolkata to conduct the elections of the BCCI president and other office bearers, said that he was waiting for the court order before taking any decision on this matter.

"Dalmiya told me that the division bench of the high court had stayed my appointment. He showed me a letter from an advocate addressed to Dalmiya. I have asked him to produce certified copy of the order of the court. They said that they would do it by two. Now they are saying that it would be produced by 4 pm. So let us wait and see," Justice Mohan said.

Will the elections take place at all?

"I have been assured by Dalmiya that even it means sitting till midnight he would hold the meeting today itself. The media persons as well as myself along with others would now have to see how things unfold," Justice Mohan added.
