Malik reported for suspect action

October 17, 2004 19:18 IST

Pakistan's Shoaib Malik has been reported for a suspect bowling action in the final of the triangular one-day tournament, sources close to the team said.

The sources said match referee Jeff Crowe had informed the Pakistan team management about Malik, who has been reported by umpires Simon Taufel and Aleem Dar after Pakistan lost the final to Sri Lanka.

"I can't make any official comments. The International Cricket Council will make any announcement if any," Crowe said on Sunday.

The sources said all rounder Malik, who bowls off spin and has been one of Pakistan's success stories in recent matches, was reported after his spell of 10-0-56-1 in the final.

Pakistan's Shoaib Akhtar and Shabbir Ahmed have previously been reported for suspect actions.
