Kale to appear before BCCI committee

April 27, 2004 15:08 IST

Tainted Maharashtra batsman Abhijit Kale has been asked to appear before the Board of Control for Cricket in India's disciplinary committee in Kolkata on April 29.

Kale has been issued a notice to appear before the three-member committee comprising BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya, Kamal Morarka and Ranbir Singh Mahendra in Kolkata after the committee decided to hear his side of the story in an alleged bribery case, BCCI joint secretary Ratnakar Shetty said in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Kale is alleged to have offered money to the tune of Rs 10 lakh each to two Indian selectors, Kiran More and Pranab Roy, for a berth in the Indian team last year.

Kale, who was all set to leave for Kolkata, confirmed that he had received the notice from BCCI following his reply to a 17-page show-cause notice issued by the BCCI in August-September last year.
