India’s financial capital, Mumbai gets a major infrastructure boost with the country's first double decker flyover.

The Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) and the Amar Mahal junction flyover are expected to decongest the Eastern and Western Express Highways in Mumbai.

The 3.5-km Link Road and the 1,096-meter long Amar Mahal junction flyover will ease traffic at Amar Mahal, Sion and Kalanagar junctions and in Kurla in the central Mumbai.

The travel time from Santacruz to Chembur will take just 20 minutes on the route, saving 40-60 minutes during peak hours.

The much-delayed six-lane road was built at a cost of Rs 454 crore (Rs 4.54 billion).

The maximum speed limit for all vehicles is 30 kilometres per hour as per the regulations of Mumbai Traffic Police to maintain smooth traffic. Halting or parking of vehicles on the entire stretch is prohibited.
