Gold rises marginally, silver adds Rs 300

Gold gained Rs 10 to Rs 30,450 per 10 grams in the bullion market in New Delhi on Monday, while silver rose by Rs 300 to Rs 54,400 per kg on scattered buying for the festive season.

Traders said some demand for the festive season mainly supported the rise in prices of both the precious metals.

Gold of 99.9 and 99.5 per cent purity rose by Rs 10 each to Rs 30,450 and Rs 30,250 per 10 grams, respectively.

Sovereign remained steady at Rs 24,500 per piece of eight grams.

Silver ready climbed Rs 300 to Rs 54,400 per kg, while weekly-based delivery shed Rs 20 to Rs 53,620 per kg on lack of buying interest.

Silver coins continued to be asked around previous level of Rs 65,000 for buying and Rs 66,000 for selling of Rs 100 pieces.
