The Uttar Pradesh assembly polls will see a sprinkling of star dust with political parties planning to rope in a bevy of Bollywood personalities to canvass for them.
Blaming the Mayawati government for the backwardness and "barren villages" in Bundelkhand, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Thursday claimed that the Uttar Pradesh chief minister never visited the region to see what drought and poverty is all about. "Mayawati never went to Bundelkhand to see what drought is all about there, and what poverty is," Rahul said while addressing a public meet in Tilhar area in Shahjahanpur, UP.
Blaming the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Samajwadi Party for neglecting the plight of Bundelkhand, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said the Centre took the initiative and provided a Rs 8,000-crore package to the region despite it being the responsibility of the state government.
The issue of division of Uttar Pradesh had been lying dormant till now with major political parties including the BSP preferring silence so far.
