GE Aviation has signed a 20-year engine maintenance agreement with Air India. The agreement covers the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of GE90 aircraft engines.
Air India will be saving $150 million over 15 years by mounting advanced General Electric engines GE90-115B on its 27 Boeing 777-300ERs aircraft.
In the largest such order, UAE's flagship Emirates Airline on Monday announced an order of 42 Boeing 777 aircraft, to be powered by GE90 jet engines, in a deal worth $9.7 billion.
Air India is keen to raise working capital by selling aircraft.
