Southern California's Venice Beach was the home of the greatest outdoor bodybuilding show. And when it was time to judge the annual Mr and Ms Muscle Beach bodybuilding contest it was a tough call.

The beach has its fair share of history and Hollywood angle to it, with former Californian governor and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger known to frequent it.

The sparkling, white sand beach was the venue for fitness buffs who gathered to watch participants compete in categories that included figure, bodybuilding, and men’s and women’s physique.

Bodybuilders are known for their focus and motivation, and this famous beach showcased the best muscles around.
