Serena Williams became just the fourth player ever to win a particular tournament at least seven times when she triumphed in the Sony Open last week.

Here's a look at three players who preceded the American to the feat.

Serena Williams lives an hour's drive from the Tennis Centre at Crandon Park.

Understandably, she considers the Sony Open her home event.

And in her 14 appearances in the Miami tournament, she drove back home with the trophy half the time.

Saturday's 7-5, 6-1 demolition of China's Li Na helped the world’s top-ranked woman win a record seventh title in the hard court event.

In the process, Serena became just the fourth player ever to win a particular tournament at least seven times.
