Amid a pitched battle, Libyan rebel fighters are heading for, what many say, 'the final assault.'
Libyan National Transitional Council chairman Mustafa Abdul Jalil has said that their fighters have reached the centre of Sirte, the hometown of former dictator Muammar Gaddafi, and hope that they will be able to capture the entire city by the end of this week. Jalil also informed the Bani Walid, another stronghold of Gaddafi, was under siege 'from no fewer than five sides.'
However, lack of co-ordination has hit the NTC fighters hard, also known as the 'Revolutionaries', with many killed or seriously injured by pro-Gaddafi soldiers. In short, the bloody war is just about to reach its climax.
