These women run their countries

Khaleda Zia

Born in 1945, Khaleda Zia is the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She was elected PM from 1991 to 1996 (the first woman in her country to do so), and again from 2001 to the present.

Zia is the widow of former President Ziaur Rahman, who was assassinated, and is the leader of his old party, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. She was propelled into politics a few years after her husband's assassination and was soon elected chairperson of the BNP.

A mother of two, Zia continues to hold the reigns in her country and is stronger than ever.
