Aspiring Bollywood actress Preeti Jain, arrested on charges of giving a contract to underworld don, Arun Gawli, to eliminate film-maker Madhur Bhandarkar, was remanded on Sunday to police custody till September 16.

Jain, who was arrested on Saturday, was produced before the metropolitan magistrate's court in Mazgaon. In the remand application, the police have sought Preeti's narco-analysis and brain-mapping tests, police sources said.

Jain's lawyers said she had gone to Gawli's residence to urge him to raise the issue of her earlier allegations of rape by Bhandarkar in Maharashtra assembly, as Gawli is a MLA. The police said Preeti had allegedly given a `supari' to Gawli's aide to kill Bhandarkar.

The matter came to the notice of the police when a functionary of Gawli's political outfit, Akhil Bharatiya Sena, Advocate Bagawe, lodged a complaint at Agripada police station in central Mumbai last week, baring the plot.
