Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga will pay an official visit to New Delhi over the weekend, a media report said in Colombo on Tuesday.

There was no formal word from Kumaratunga's office about the visit, but the Sinhalese-language Lankadeepa newspaper said she will leave for India on Saturday on a two-day official visit.

The paper said she was expected to call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] and meet with United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi [Images].

The two sides were expected to discuss Colombo's plans to enter into a deal with Tamil Tiger rebels to handle millions of dollars in foreign aid for tsunami survivors.

Kumaratunga has said that such a deal could be the foundation for a final peace deal in Sri Lanka [Images].
