Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh on Tuesday said his government also now wants a complete withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from the state.

He, however, said he would not tolerate violent agitations that are being organised by a few groups in the state.

The government has withdrawn the Act from the Imphal municipal areas, but this has not satisfied a group of 32 organisations leading state-wide agitation seeking a complete withdrawal of AFSPA.

Singh said dishonouring of the national flag, misuse of educational institutions and the boycott of 'India-made' goods had compelled the government to detain protestors under the National Security Act.

Meanwhile, an indefinite curfew in Imphal and Greater Imphal areas was relaxed from 4 am to 9 pm on Tuesday.
