Former Uttar Pradesh environment secretary V K Gupta has challenged the CBI's decision to file a charge sheet against him in the Rs 175 crore Taj Heritage Corridor project scam as well as the state government's decision to initiate departmental proceedings against him.

Gupta has pleaded that he had no role to play in the alleged scam as he had taken over after the suspension of his predecessor R K Sharma.

However, a Supreme Court bench comprising Justice N Santosh Hegde and Justice B P Singh asked him to place his case before another bench, which was seized of the matter.
