Jaya won't be part of Vajpayee's ministry

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam supremo and former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha Jayaram has ruled out her joining the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition government.

Her party colleagues, however, will hold portfolios in the government.

Jayalaitha, who arrived in New Delhi to have consultations with the BJP and allied parties, killed rumours about her becoming a minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, saying she had no such plans whatsoever. She said the allied parties would have discussions about the strategy to be adopted in government formation.

The AIADMK leader was accorded a warm welcome at the New Delhi airport by Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma and a host of BJP leaders. From there she drove down straight to Prime Minister designate Vajpayee's home to attend the meeting.
