Congress, TDP workers clash in Guntur

The police opened fire in the air to quell a clash between Congress and Telugu Desam Party workers at Dondapadu village in Narsaraopeta constituency in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.

The activists of both groups hurled bombs at each other and the police opened fire in the air to bring the situation under control.

At least 15 TDP supporters sustained minor injuries in the incident, the police said.

Additional Superintendent of Police S V Ramana Kumar, who is camping at Narsaraopet, said the police were searching the entire village for bombs.

He said a Congress worker was arrested and a search was on for others who fled the village.
