JMM expels Mahato

In a drastic move, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (Soren) has expelled party general secretary Sudhir Mahato on the ground of indiscipline.

Mahato, a former MLA and the brother of slain JMM leader Nirmal Mahato, is contesting the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat as an Independent after being denied a party ticket.

The JMM (S) did not field a candidate as the party has forged an electoral alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal under the Jan Morcha banner.

JMM (S) vice-president Suraj Mandal told the media that Mahato had ignored the party directives by deciding to contest from Jamshedpur.

Mandal clarified that the JMM (S) was wholeheartedly supporting RJD candidate Onkar Nath Jaiswal in Jamshedpur. Mandal said action would also be taken against the JMM (S) leaders, supporting Mahato.
