No Congressman has read Jain's report, says Gujral

E-Mail this story to a friend Prime Minister Inder Kumar Gujral on Thursday offered to quit the Lok Sabha contest in Jalandhar if any Congress leader proved that s/he had gone through the voluminous Jain Commission's interim report.

Addressing the twice-postponed rally at the Shalimar gardens in Kapurthala, he charged the Congress with having demanded the dropping of DMK ministers without having gone through the 17-volume report. ''They even did not wait for the court judgment in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, though the court's decision has ultimately exonerated the DMK of the charges made against it'', he added.

The prime minister also charged the Congress with having backed out from its written assurance to the President that it had given unconditional support to the United Front government.

Gujral reiterated that he was not in favour of a national government as then there would be no one to expose the weaknesses of the government for want of an opposition.
