Another MLA quits JD in Karnataka

The ruling Janata Dal in Karnataka today received another jolt with P C Siddanagoudar, representing Kalaghatagi in the state assembly, resigning from the party and joining the apolitical Rashtriya Nava Nirmana Vedike of Ramakrishna Hegde.

With this the number of MLAs -- including three former ministers R V Deshpande, Ramesh Jigajinagi and Ajaykumar Sarnaik -- joining the Vedike has risen to seven. The other three MLAs were former assembly deputy speaker B R Yavagal, former minister K S Beelagi and Govind Karjol.

Announcing Siddanagoudar's decision to join the Vedike in Hegde's presence, Deshpande claimed that some more ministers and legislators were in touch with him and were likely to leave the Janata Dal.

Welcoming Siddanagoudar, Hegde said the J H Patel government would not be able to continue in office after the Lok Sabha election.

Kannada actor Ramakrishna and film director Budal Krishnamurthy also joined the Lok Shakthi.
