SJP to support Mulayam

The Samajwadi Janata Party, led by former prime minister Chandra Shekhar, will not field any candidate against Defence Minister and Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav.

This, SJP state vice-president Shiv Deo Narain Rai said, was in reciprocation to the SP's gesture -- it has not fielded anyone against Chandra Shekhar in Balia.

He said the party's central leadership has directed the state unit to support Mulayam Singh's candidature in any constituency he chooses to contest from.
