Bollywood sequels, coming up

Sequels are the order of the day.

There are more than a dozen coming up, and many more being planned. Among those in the latter category is Ra.One and Force. While Shah Rukh Khan has not confirmed Ra.One's sequels officially yet, director Nishikant Kamat has stated that he will not be part of the Force sequel.

In a two-part series, we look at the sequels coming up in our theatres soon.

Don 2: The Chase Continues

Ever since 2006's Don: The Chase Begins, director Farhan Akhtar had wanted to make a sequel of the film. 

But he started working on other films, and Don 2 was kept on the back burner.

Now, the film is ready, and it looks brilliant. So good in fact, that Farhan has already announced Don 3: The Chase Ends!

Don 2, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta and Arjun Rampal, will release on December 23.

Race 2

After the huge success of Race, director duo Abbas-Mustan announced a sequel.

Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor have been retained from the first part while John Abraham has been signed on to play the villain.

Bipasha Basu, who starred in the first film, will make a cameo in the new film while Katrina Kaif gives this film a miss.

Instead, the three leading ladies are Deepika Padukone, Ameesha Patel and Jacqueline Fernandez.

The shooting for Race 2 is expected to start this month.

Dhoom 3: Back In Action

The third installment of the Dhoom series will have Aamir Khan playing the bad guy.

Katrina Kaif will step into a role, earlier played by Esha Deol and Aishwarya Rai - of helping lending the villain a helping hand. She is learning paragliding and taking singing classes for her role.

Sanjay Ghadvi, who had directed the first two films, will not direct the third film. Instead, Tashan director Vijay Krishna Acharya will take over.

Dhoom 3 is slated to release in December 2012.

Wanted 2

After Wanted's huge success, producer Boney Kapoor announced the film's sequel.

Salman Khan will obviously star in the new film too, mostly titled Most Wanted. Asin will play the female lead.

Director Prabhu Deva will return at the helm of the film, which is scheduled to go on the floor in December.

Partner 2

Salman Khan's chemistry with Govinda made Partner a big hit.

The sequel was stalled because Salman had date problems. Besides, Katrina Kaif backed out from the film and there is still no replacement.

Sanjay Dutt will be part of the sequel, to be directed by David Dhawan.

The film is still in the scripting stage.

Dabangg 2

Salman is one of the most sorted actors today, as he belts out hit after hit. Since his movies are now spawning sequels, the actor has a serious date issue. And Dabangg 2 is one of the films affected by this.

Sonakshi Sinha will be a part of the sequel as well. Prakash Raj will replace Sonu Sood as the villain.

Abhinav Kashyap will not direct the sequel; producer Arbaaz Khan will make his directorial debut with this.

The film will go on the floors in March, and will release around Christmas next year.

Krrish 2

The sequel to Krrish was written in 2007 itself, by Rakesh Roshan.

Priyanka Chopra will play Hrithik Roshan's wife in this film. Vivek Oberoi will play the bad guy, while Riya Sen will play his girlfriend.

Kangna Ranaut will also play a villain.

The shooting for the film will start after Hrithik-Priyanka wrap up Agneepath.

Jannat 2

The first film dealt with cricket, and the sequel will deal with illegal arms in Delhi.

Emraan Hashmi will return to the film. The film also stars Randeep Hooda and the hot former Miss India International Esha Gupta.

The shooting of Jannat 2 started this month, and the film will release in April.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2

Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi played Haji Mustan and Dawood Ibrahim respectively in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.

In the sequel, Akshay Kumar will play Dawood Ibrahim and Shahid Kapoor will play Chotta Rajan.

The film will focus on gang wars between Dawood and Chotta Rajan. But it will also focus on their love affairs, rather than being just another dark film,

Kareena Kapoor and South actress Ileana D'Cruz will play the lead females roles.

The film is stated to release next year.

Raaz 3

Vikram Bhatt, who directed Raaz, will return to direct Raaz: The Third Dimension, a 3D film.

The second installment had been directed by Mohit Suri, and been a hit as well.

The third part will star Emraan Hashmi, along with Bipasha Basu and Jacqueline Fernandez.
