A movie trailer is the first stepping stone in an increasingly crucial bid to generate interest in an upcoming project.

To say that the first promo of Sherlyn Chopra's new film Kamasutra 3D -- already generating a lot of curiousity thanks to its subject -- has piqued everybody's interest would be a serious understatement.

Featuring a consistently topless Chopra, who coyly moves around the frame to classical music playing in the background, the trailer is one of the boldest we've seen in Hindi cinema.

Here's looking at other risque trailers Bollywood has seen in the recent past.

If the title wasn't a giveaway already, this erotic thriller marking the Bollywood debut of Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone was a hit even before it hit theatres.

The trailer features Leone in various states of undress in picturesque settings, getting intimate with her two costars, Randeep Hooda and Arunoday Singh.

Packed with double entendres, a cleavage-baring leading lady and three men fixating on her, the trailer of Milan Luthria's The Dirty Picture was a vouyer's delight.

A snarky remark on male gaze, Naseeruddin Shah's dialogue, 'Jab sharafat ke kapde utarte hain toh sabse zyada maza shareefon ko hi aata hai,' offers a glimpse into the movie's premise.

Ram Gopal Varma's cinematic retelling of the infamous Neeraj Grover murder case, Not A Love Story was marred by low angle shots.

The trailer was no exception.

Giving the viewer a glimpse of his leading lady's (Mahie Gill) bare legs, shower scenes and a dead body, it was a visual experience one would take a long time to erase from memory.

The censor board fond this trailer so unpalatable that it was barred from airing on television.

Paoli Dam's leading lady, who speaks English in an awkward accent, plays a high flying corporate executive who turns to prostitution to seek revenge from a former boss.

While we are still to figure out the contrived logic behind this revenge story, the trailer grabbed many eyeballs with explicit sex scenes and cringeworthy dialogues.

The trailer of Sudhir Mishra's 2011 film Yeh Saali Zindagi was peppered with plenty of wisecracks, bits of action sequences, and costars Arunoday Singh and Aditi Rao kissing in an autorickshaw, next to a child.

'Log aulaad paida karte hain, maine daulat paida ki tumhaare liye (people produce kids, I made money for you).'

One of the many gems from Rajesh Khanna's disastrous 2008 comeback, the trailer -- full of explicit sex scenes between Khanna and a much younger Laila Khan -- was just a precursor of deadlier things to come.

'Nothing is deadlier than men with secrets.'

These are the ominous words that Abbas-Mustan's snazzy 2008 thriller Race's trailer opens with.

While some of us wish they had kept this film a secret too, the trailer had exotic locales, cars being blown up and stunning women dressed in their skimpiest best. And its lead stars Saif Ali Khan and Bipasha Basu getting very intimate with each other.
