Guess who the richest singer is?
Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney tops the stakes at $1.3 billion, says a report on People magazine. His fortune is more than what Elton John, Madonna and Mick Jagger have amassed.
Among the stars, the richest is former James Bond Sean Connery, at $120 million. Rowan Atkinson and Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins also are in the reckoning.
People quotes editor Rachel Oldroyd, Rich Report, as saying, 'Hollywood pay packets have made fortunes for half of Britain's richest male showbiz personalities. Wise investment and shrewd merchandising deals have helped to boost show-business earnings.'
Comedian Tracey Ullman has reportedly earned $81.8 million, more than Catherine Zeta-Jones at $54.5 million. Oldroyd says, 'Women are really underrepresented in the list as a whole because it takes decades to accumulate such wealth. But they are starting to make huge fortunes in television and showbiz, where success is rewarded much faster.'
