Vijay (Bachchan) and Ajay (Khanna) are good friends. Both are unemployed and so take to petty crime, conning people.

But soon, there is a rift in the friendship when they learn that Ajay's father had murdered Vijay's father.

Of course, in true filmi fashion, the two friends make up when Vijay learns that Ajay was backing his father all along only to protect him.
