If the latest TRPs are anything to go by, the K factor seems to be working for Ektaa Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms [Get Quote].

The production house's new serial Kkavyanjali, which began on January 25 on Star Plus, seems to have got off to a good start. The TRP ratings for the debut week were 13 and have now settled down to 10.

Industry sources say that compares favourably with the initial response generated by Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi the long-running immensely popular soap from the Balaji stable.

One of the factors that seems to have worked in Kkavyanjali's favour is the television debut of former Bollywood actress Amrita Singh, who is one of the main attractions of the soap, apart from the lead pair of Kkavya (Rakshak Sawhney) and Anjali (Natasha).

The aggressive promotion that preceded the launch also helped.
