Road tripping to Munnar
The drive from Cumbam to Cumbammettu is through the ghat region with narrow roads and hairpin bends. Watch out for speeding jeeps coming from the other side!
There is a forest check post at Cumbammettu where you have to register your travel details, driving licence number etc.
The road from Cumbammettu is very good. It was drizzling and I drove past quite a few springs and waterfalls. It was a beautiful drive.
Airfare for Rs 599 and less!
I stopped at Nedukandom, 35 km from Cumbammettu, to offer Asr prayers at 5.15 pm.
From there it took nearly an hour and a half to reach the Club Mahindra Lakeview Resort at Suryanelli which is 18 km before Munnar town.
The route: Nedukandom-Udambanchola-Shantampara-Poopara-Suryanelli.
The roads were excellent and very scenic. Once you cross Poopara, you see tea plantations on both sides of the road. I do not have enough words to describe the beauty of the place.
