Road tripping to Munnar
From the resort, Munnar town is 18 km away. The 45 min drive to Munnar is a scenic one with a beautiful waterfall on the way and tea plantations on both the sides of the road.
Just 8 km before Munnar is a small town called Devikulam famous for velvet lawns, exotic flora and fauna and the cool mountain air. The Sita Devi Lake with its mineral water and picturesque surrounding is a good picnic spot.
In Munnar town do visit the market for spices, local tea powder (in different varieties) and coconut oil.
Other places to see in and around Munnar are the Madupatti Lake and Dam, Kundalai, Top Station, Sethu-Parvathy and the Aruvikkad waterfall.
I took the Munnar-Udamalpet road on my way back to Chennai. The 80 km stretch has quiet a few attractions like the Kannimalai tea estate, Rajamalai, Chinnar wildlife sanctuary and Marayoor.
Airfare for Rs 599 and less!
