Feng Shui tips for your home

September 14, 2007
The principles of Feng Shui can be practiced right from the time you begin the design and construction of your home or while renovating your apartment.

Here are a few tips for you to include while you design your lucky home:
~ There are two approaches in construction theory. One is the general approach and second is the individualistic approach. If you aim at good result it is better to find out the 'Kua' number and creat a design according to the correct individualistic direction.
~ It is better to avoid extensions and cuts. It could result in a loss of harmonious Chi energy and thereby lead to misfortune. For instance, a cut in the south east is believed to lead to financial problems and it is not auspicious for the family's long-term future.
~ It is better to find out the ideal position of the master bedroom and kitchen according to Fend Shui principles before construction. This is believed to better wealth, health and peace of mind.

Incorporating Feng Shui elements during construction stages can be pretty tedious. However, there's no reason why you can't implement some of these practices in a flat as well. For instance, "Keeping a clock in the north direction of the living room will help in career development," says Thoppil. Activating the north corner of your living room with other appropriate elements also helps.

Which is better -- Feng Shui or Vaasthu Shastra? "Vaastu is the leading system in the world," says Thoppil. "However, people find it difficult to practice. Vaastu's mathematical perfections make it difficult to use in small areas."

The flat and apartment culture makes Feng Shui easier to practice, which is why it is so popular. With Feng Shui, you could forget demolishing and instead get luck on your side by simple adorning your shelves with statuettes of the laughing Buddha or pretty green bamboo.
