Feeling unlucky? Feng Shui might help

September 14, 2007
It was after someone gifted me a plant that I got appreciation at work and I came to the States," says Delhi-based Shantanu Mukherjee, senior consultant at the EAS division of HCL Technologies.

Though the connection between Shantanu's career prospects and a little shrub may not be apparent to most, there are thousands, nay millions, who believe that an arrangement of "Lucky Bamboo" will keep bad juju at bay and fill their lives with good fortune. This is just one of the teachings of the Chinese discipline Feng Shui.

"I am still unaware of the different objects/ rules and their significance in Feng Shui. However, I have a firm belief in the powers of Feng Shui and Vaastu (Shastra) ever since this incident," adds Shantanu.

Jagadeesh and Renu from Mumbai admit, "After our friends recommended it, we have been trying our luck with Feng Shui, by re-positioning elements in our home." Jagadeesh says he has seen changes in his relationship with Renu since they made some changes in the placement of objects in their bedroom. They are now in the process of trying to create luck in the financial aspect of their lives.

But what is Feng Shui and how does it work?
