Enchanting views
We reached Kalpetta, in Wayanad, with the meter clocking 280 km and checked in at the Everglades hotel. It is a decent, clean hotel with basic facilities. We decided to have lunch before exploring the place.
There is, to my knowledge, only one restaurant in this city that serves pure vegetarian cuisine. Since I had been to Kalpetta earlier, I knew about Affas restaurant, and we headed there. But as luck would have it, a 'closed for renovation' sign welcomed us. We had to make do with whatever vegetarian fare our hotel had to offer.
Airfare for Rs 599 and less!
Our first stop after lunch was the Pookot lake, 13 km from Kalpetta, a natural lake with small hills all around. We did not go boating, but walked around the path that circled the lake. It was enchanting.
Then we headed to the Lakkidi viewpoint. Close by is the Chain Tree, where according to legend a spirit was tied using iron chains.
