Mist in my room: Munnar diary
The drive from Cochin to Munnar takes you on one of the most scenic routes in India. The road winds up, past lush green trees and you can feast your eyes on raw nature, not wanting the ride to end.

Airfare for Rs 100 and less!

I had taken an early morning flight from Chennai to Cochin [Cochin airport is my favourite airport in India - a small, charming building with clean toilets, an interesting shopping area and an appetising sandwich bar]. The car that I had hired swung out of the port city and only stopped at a roadside snack shop, an hour short of Munnar.

I was headed for Blackberry Hills, a charming resort with cottages overlooking a gorgeous valley covered with tea plantation. I was lucky to have the last room on the edge of the hill - where the balcony hung over lush green steppes of tea bushes with a white church in the distant village.

Bring out your books, order masala tea and you could spend your entire two days perched on that balcony.
