Suthar continues and after four dots, Dinushka comes down the track and plays it through extra cover for three. A dot to end the over as 3 come off it.


Sonal Dinushka is the new man in and he is off the mark with a couple to the leg side.

He then takes a single next ball. Three dots to end the over as a wicket and 3 runs come off it.


Kuldeep continues and Mendis spots the fuller ball outside off, comes down the track and plays it uppishly towards cover where Gill dives, sticks out his left hand and pulls off a catch out of thin air. Mendis and the fans watch in disbelief as he has to walk back for 14.


 


Suthar continues and Mendis starts the over with a single. De Silva then plays five dots a just one comes off it.



Kuldeep continues and Mendis takes a single off the 2nd ball of the over.

A dot later, de Silva gets off the mark with a four through covers.

Two dots to end the over as 5 come off it.

Dhananjaya de Silva is the new man in and he plays a dot and that is a wicket maiden.


Suthar continues and after testing Udara the first four balls, he bowls a short ball and Udara goes to cut the ball, he gets a top edge and is caught at backward point. Done in by the bounce, Udara miscues and is out for 27 off 44. Suthar gets his 2nd wicket.
  

Time for drinks now.

India have dominated the first hour of play on Day 3, sending back two Sri Lankan batters in quick time with Siraj and Suthar making early inroads.

Sri Lanka still trail by 409 with Udara and Mendsi looking to rally the home team.


Kuldeep Yadav is in the attack now and after two dots, Mendis plays the ball to cover for a single.

A dot later, Udara gets a single to the leg side.

A dot to end the over as 2 come off it.


Suthar continues and he continues to get turn with the perfect line and length to test the batters, keeping it full and just around and outside the off stump.

After 5 dots, the short and wide ball is cut through covers for a four by Udara and that brings up Sri Lanka's 50. 




Krishna continues and after three dots, Krishna bowls a bouncer, wide called.

Two dots to end the over as 7 come off it. 


Manav Suthar continues and he bowls on that middle and off stump line and he then gets one of drift in and turn and Udara is beaten on the outside edge.

The short ball is pulled through square leg for a four.

Kusal Mendis is the new man in and the ball turns viciously and beats everyone to run to the boundary at fine leg.

Two dots later, Mendis comes down the track and flicks the ball uppishly towards mid-on for a single. A wicket and 5 runs come off it.


Suthar comes into the attack, he bowls the perfect ball as Chadimal pokes at it, the bal turns away, takes the top of the batters' glove and Pant does well to complete the catch. Chandimal out for 4. 


Siraj continues and after a dot, the fuller ball, Udara puts in a stride and the half-volley is driven through mid-on for a four.

Siraj follows it up with a better ball, a length ball played to cover point for a dot.

Siraj then bowls another length ball, Udara times it superbly through point for a four!

Two dots to end the over as 8 come off it.

Krishna continues and he starts with three dots as Chandimal is watchful as he hangs back. 

Quick bouncer next and Chandimal pulls it to backward square leg for a couple.

A dot to end the over as 2 come off it.



 

Siraj continues and he continues to test the batter and after a dot, Chandimal gets a single off a leg bye. 

A dot later, Udara is hit on the back pad as the ball comes into the batter, he gets some inside edge. He surivives.

A dot later, Siraj bowls wide down the leg side and the ball runs past a diving Dhoni for a four. Byes to end the over as 5 come off it.


Krishna continues and after two dots, Udara gets on top of the bounce and creams the overpitched ball through covers for a four! 

Three dots to end the over as 4 come off it.


Siraj continues and after a dot, Chandimal pushes at the ball and the inside edge roll to the leg side for a single.

Udara then plays the ball towards gully, Chadimal calls for the single but Jaiswal does well to dive and stop the ball at gully and Udara has to get back, Jaiswal takes a shy at the stumps but misses and Udara survives a run out.  

Fuller ball next and Udara takes a single to cover point.

Chandimal then takes a single to square leg before Udara flicks the ball to mid-wicket for a single as 4 runs come off it.


Prasidh Krishna opens at the other end and after 5 dots, Lahiru Udara opens his and Sri Lanka's account with a open-faced dab past the diving gully fielder for a four.

4 runs come off the over. 


Dinesh Chandimal is the new man in and Siraj tests the batter with a ball that moves away and Chandimal is beaten on the outside edge.

Chandimal is beaten again on the defence.

Two dots to end the over and that is a wicket maiden as Siraj gets the ball to move off the pitch and in the air for a perfect start. 


Mohammed Siraj opens the bowling for India while Nishan Madushka Fernando and Lahiru Udara come out to bat. 

Fernando faces and after a dot, Siraj bowls a superb ball. The ball just jags away as the ball takes Fernando's edge as he pokes at it and Sri Lanka loses an early wicket. SL 0-1.

India have been bowled out for 462 after just four balls on Day 3.

Asitha Fernando opens the bowling on Day 3 and Prasidh Krishna starts the day with a single.

Kuldeep then takes a single to mid-wicket.

A dot later, Krishna is caught down the leg side, attempting to play a pull shot and that wraps up India's innings after just four balls bowled on Day 3.

On Day 2, Sri Lanka struck back through spinners but Devdutt Padikkal's elegant 167 powered India to a commanding 460-9 in the rain-plagued opening Test in Galle on Sunday.

Sri Lanka's spin pair of Prabath Jayasuriya (4-109) and Keshara Nuwantha (3-175) kept the hosts in the match but India scored nearly at four-an-over rate to finish in a position of strength.

Kuldeep Yadav (12) and Prasidh Krishna (one) were batting when stumps were drawn on day two.

Play was supposed to start 15 minutes early after only 73 overs could be bowled at the Galle International Stadium on Saturday.

Instead, players were confined to the dressing room for nearly four hours waiting for the cover to come off the pitch.

Rishabh Pant (39) looked in a hurry to score but he became debutant Nuwantha's first test victim after charging out and skying the ball to the fielder at deep mid-wicket.

Opener KL Rahul, who had retired hurt on 77 on Saturday after suffering cramps, came out to bat but fell short of a hundred that looked there for the taking.

Rahul made 82 before flicking a Nuwantha delivery into the waiting hands of Nishan Fernando at forward short leg.

Jayasuriya ended Padikkal's fine knock when the spinner lured the batter out of his crease and had him stumped. Padikkal hit 15 fours and a six in his maiden test hundred.

Nuwantha removed Ravindra Jadeja (13) but Dhruv Jurel raced to a breezy 51.

Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva, who had dropped Jurel on 29, took a sensational catch to remove the batter but could not polish off India's tail.
