Malik's all-round double

Rajneesh Gupta | July 19, 2004 14:56 IST

Shoaib Malik played a significant part in Pakistan's thumping 173-run win over Hong Kong in the Asia Cup on Sunday.

After scoring 118 in Pakistan's mammoth total of 343 for five, Malik took 4 wickets for 19 to destroy Hong Kong's batting. He became the first Pakistan and only the eighth player in the history of one-day internationals to perform the all-round feat of a century and four wickets in the same match.

Former West Indies captain Vivian Richards was the first player to do so. Richards, in fact, still remains the only player to score a century and claim five wickets in a match.
