James Law, an architect based in Hong Kong designs futuristic buildings to meet big challenges in cities.

Heralding an iconic form of architecture in Mumbai, James Law has designed a mind-blowing office building in the shape of an ‘egg’.

"The project was designed, and superseded with The Capital building, which is larger and also has an Egg. However, this original Egg design is being kept at this time whilst our client, Wadhwa Developers decides on a new plot  to start construction, says James Law, founder and CEO, James Law Cybertecture.

According to James Law Cyberecture, “In the 21st Century, buildings will not be created by just concrete, steel and glass of the 20th Century, but also with  the intangible materials of technology,  multimedia, intelligence and interactivity.”

The concept for the egg-shaped building was inspired by looking at the world in terms of the planet, being a self-sustaining vessel with an ecosystem that allows life to exist, grow and evolve. This unique complex will be developed by Wadhwa Developers.

Like planet earth, the building exudes a sustainable ecosystem, to give the building’s occupants a conducive environment to work in.

With 13 storeys, the building will have highly intelligent building management systems and a diagrid exo-skeleton, which creates a rigid structural system.

The building will have a steel frame structure with a concrete core and basement.

The design uses 10-20 per cent lesser materials to build than conventional buildings.

The building will have facilities to monitor health parameters like weight, blood pressure etc.

An environmentally sustainable building, it is designed to make maximum advantage of solar energy.

Photovoltaic cells are integrated into the building’s façade and roof top wind turbines are installed to produce electricity.

The building will have rain water harvesting systems, sewerage treatment and filtration, and wetland cell systems in place.

It will also have 3 levels of basement providing parking space for 400 cars.
