Novak Djokovic defeated fourth-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer 7-5 6-3 on Saturday to win the Dubai Championships.
Second seed Dinara Safina slumped out of the Dubai Tennis Championships in the second round on Tuesday after losing 6-4 6-2 to Virginie Razzano of France.
The 25-year-old American, who linked up with the eight-times Grand Slam champion in July 2006, said their coaching agreement was terminated mutually.
It was the eighth seed's first trophy since she won in Moscow in October while Kuznetsova suffered her second defeat in the final here, having also lost to Justine Henin in 2004.
Chakvetadze, who this week qualified for the season-ending WTA Championships which begin in Madrid on Nov. 6, looked flat and barely competed against an aggressive opponent who took full advantage of the freedom she was given.
