Former England football captain David Beckham among the few to take home honours at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Sports awards over the weekend. Rediff.com presents the winners...

Former England captain and LA Galaxy soccer star David Beckham gets "slimed" as he accepts the Legend Award from sons Cruz (left) and Romeo during the inaugural 2014 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Sports awards at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, California on Thursday.

The awards were broadcast live from UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles where kids honored their favorite athletes, teams and sports moments from the year in one big, slimy sports celebration.

American surfer Bethany Hamilton accepts the Favorite Comeback Award during the inaugural 2014 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Sports awards that was hosted by Michael Strahan, a former NFL player.

Miami Heat Dwyane Wade and Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas accept the King and Queen of Swag Award.

Douglas was also named Best Female Athlete, while Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder was chosen as Best Male Athlete.

NFL wide receiver of the New York Giants Victor Cruz kisses daughter Kennedy while accepting the Party Like a Sports Star Award.

Also honoured at the event was tennis World No 1 Serena Williams, who was named Biggest Cannon.

US and Everton goalkeeper, Tim Howard, who impressed at the World Cup, particularly in the game against Belgium, won “Best Save” award.
