The Delhi police will adopt a 'wait and watch' approach to social activist Anna Hazare-led anti-corruption protest at Ramlila Ground from Friday.

There are several key players in the security and traffic arrangements put in place for the event. Several policemen will be seen making videos of the event, so that the police are not caught off-guard if anything untoward were to happen.

Over 5,000 policemen from two districts of the capital -- north and central -- will be deployed in and around Ramlila Grounds to man the venue and to direct traffic.

Door Frame Metal Detectors and Hand Held Metal Detectors will be stationed at the entrance, while dog squads and bomb disposal squads have been put on standby.

A senior police official said that much before the government and Anna Hazare's team reached an agreement on the terms of fast, elaborate security checks were conducted at Ramlila Maidan.

Rediff.com takes a look at the key police officers for the event and their responsibilities.

The Delhi police chief will be understandably nervous as it was under him that the crackdown on Baba Ramdev's supporters was ordered in June. The 1975 batch officer, who took over the mantle in June last year, will be especially cautious in dealing with the protestors.

He is overall in charge of whatever the police does during the protest. The commissioner will be constantly briefed about the whole event by his subordinates. He will also take stock of the situation several times in a day.

Special Commissioner of police (Administration) Ajay Chadha

This 1977-batch officer was brought in from Arunachal Pradesh as Special Commissioner for the Commonwealth Games held last year.

Chadha's main job would be to oversee the whole protest from an administrative perspective. All report preparations, necessary paperwork, permission reviews, etc will be monitored by him.

This 1984 batch officer will be responsible for the overall law and order situation. In a sense, all the police personnel come under law and order riot, reserve police etc.

It will be under his direct order any action will be taken against protestors if the situation takes a violent turn.

During the crackdown on Baba Ramdev, Kumar had said that none of the protestors were lathicharged.

Traffic in and around central Delhi will take a severe hit because of the protest. Garg will be responsible for the smooth movement of vehicles in the district, which sees heavy movement of vehicles.

Deputy Commissioner of police (central) Vijay Kishore

Kishore will manage the protest overall here. He was also the DCP during the crackdown on Ramdev. The reserve police of the district and other policemen from reserve police will be deployed under him. All the ACPs and senior house officers will report to Kishore, who will then report to his seniors.

Special Commissioner of police (operations) Deepak Mishra

Police Control Room and communications will be monitored by Mishra. If anything untoward were to happen, transporting the injured and the first reaction officers will be under Mishra.

The main control room which will monitor the protests also will be under Mishra.

For a long time, Kaur remained the only woman SHO of 154 police stations across the capital. It was under Kaur that Kamla Market police station got the best police station award.

Kaur is the highest official in the venue where Hazare will hold his fast. All law violations will be monitored personally by Kaur. She will personally monitor the situation on the ground and report to her seniors.

Special Commissioner of police (Intelligence) BS Brar

This 1977-batch officer will be responsible for the overall intelligence gathering. The special branch of Delhi police comes under Brar, which gathers intelligence for the city police.

Brar is responsible for assessing the protestors at the venue and gather information about them. He is also responsible for intelligence inputs about unscrupulous elements joining the protest.

A week before the Ramdev fast, Brar had written to Home Secretary GK Pillai that they were expecting a gathering of 30,000 people instead of 5,000 for which permission was granted.
