To catch the attention of young tech-savvy generation, Bharatiya Janata Party has launched Yuva, an internet TV channel that would telecast programmes, speeches and rallies of the party.

BJP president Nitin Gadkari, who launched the channel website in New Delhi on Thursday, said 'education of the masses was of prime importance'.

"We will try to spread the views of our leaders and also that of other people who are busy in doing work for the good of the country. We expect a lot of people will use this channel to get informed by our policies and views," Gadkari said.

"Speeches of former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee would also be telecast to inspire us," Gadkari said.

"We hope to have 25 lakh-viewership in no time. The internet television will provide an opportunity to get in touch with whoever you want," the BJP president said.

"The party has always pioneered the use of internet and technology in communicating and engaging with the masses, especially the youth in India. This comes after a very successful foray in social media, mobile applications and being the first party to offer online memberships," he added.

Gadkari said a small studio had also been created to hold discussions.

"We believe in the need for creating open forums to showcase exemplary work done, projects of Antyodaya and good governance by the party" said Arvind Gupta, convener of the National IT Cell, BJP.

Gupta also said it was with the use of IT Cell's internal technology that the channel would be run.

"Debates, conversation and programmes can be telecast on the channel at a scheduled time. This is more than just live web technology which we have been doing for an year," Gupta added.

YUVA TV would be webcasted between 5 to 7 pm daily and the programmes would be available at www.yuva4india.tv, BJP said in a statement.
