Watch: 10 years after 9/11, a new VIDEO

Last updated on: March 8, 2011 14:22 IST

A newly released video shot from a helicopter shows the World Trade Centre towers after they were struck by Al Qaeda terrorists on September 11, 2001.

The 17-minute video, posted on The New York Post website, first shows smoke billowing from the skyscrapers as the helicopter maneuvers around buildings.

"It's gone; the whole tower. It's gone. Holy crap," one man in the helicopter can be heard saying.

"They knocked the whole freaking thing down. They did it. It's down, the second tower is down," he continues.

The helicopter then lands and the video continues with footage of smoke in the background.

On September 11, 2001, morning, 19 Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners.

The hijackers crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, killing everyone on board and many others working in the buildings. Both towers collapsed within two hours, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others.
