N-E special train cancelled as ticket sales drop in B'luru

The exodus of people from the north-east has come down drastically on Saturday as only 40 tickets to Assam and other states in the region were sold this afternoon.

While there were crowds at railway station on Satuday morning, the exodus came down drastically prompting the Railways to cancel one of the special trains.

Railway officials informed that they would wait for another 17 hours and then decide whether to completely withdraw the special train services to north-eastern states.

While most people from north-east have already left Bengaluru, some have decided to stay back.

According to railway officials, 29,635 people from northeast had left since August 15. The total population of people from the north-east in Karnataka is around 1 lakh.

Most of the people who returned to there hometown due panic are expected to return after a month.

Meanwhile, the Bengaluru Police continue to investigate the matter.

The police picked up 3 more people on Saturday, who were circulating message which led to the panic.
