Heat wave rages in Assam, Mehalaya

Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in parts of Assam, Meghalaya, hills of west Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and of coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Heat wave conditions also prevailed in east Uttar Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh and Telangana, and in parts of interior Orissa, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Rayalaseema and of Tamil Nadu.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in the Bihar plateau, plains of west Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, and in parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Haryana and of west Madhya Pradesh, and in the remaining parts of coastal Orissa and Tamil Nadu.

They were above normal in north interior Karnataka and in the remaining parts of west Madhya Pradesh.

They were below normal in parts of north Gujarat region, central Maharashtra and of south interior Karnataka.

They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh from where the data were sparse.

Rain or thundershowers occurred at many places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at isolated in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka and Kerala.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.
