Salman Khan returns as host of Bigg Boss for the sixth season of the popular reality show. The show airs on October 7 on the Colors channel.

New elements have been added to the format like a talking parrot and a fish. Also, common people will get to be a part of the show, along with the celebrities.

"I don't like to intervene but could not help it last season because the situation went out of control," Salman said at the show's launch on Sunday. "I got a lot of feedback from people because of the fights."

Salman said the contestants think creating controversies is a way of getting ahead in the show.

"The participants, who have been in the Bigg Boss house, thought if they fought they would be seen more on the show. But one must not forget that the winners of the show have always been dignified people," he said.

There were reports that Salman had recommended last year's participant Mahek Chhal but he says he doesn't have any hand in selecting the contestants.

"I don't want to recommend anyone as I don't want to be partial or biased. Any way I get to know about the participants at the last minute," he clarified.

The show comes with a promise of being more family-oriented this season. Accordingly, the telecast time has shifted back to 9pm from11 pm.

"I get to watch all the episodes including things that we can't air on TV as it is completely messed up. So I know who is behaving in what way. Little fights and all people do enjoy, but when it goes overboard, it's irritating. People want to watch some nice things," Salman said.

What does he like and dislike about the show?

"The transition from being a celebrity to a common man and the original personality comes out eventually. That is what I like about the show. What I don't like is when people play games and they get carried away and cross all limits," he says.

Having constant fights, hurling abuse, courting controversy all the time sends out the wrong message, says the star who is no stranger to controversy himself.

"People get a chance to prove themselves. Like Rahul Bhatt (son of Mahesh Bhatt) whose name had cropped up in the David Headley case. Rahul entered the house and cleared things up. If someone in the house has a bad image, that person tries to clear their image in front of everyone. After three-four months, the real personality comes out. People, who are attached to controversies, can be sweet and innocent people, who have been framed."

Will he ever go inside the house this season as most of his female fans want to see him in the swimming pool, he retorts, "Mein Salman Khan hoon, Sunny Leone nahi."

Despite making and breaking his own records with one hit after another, Khan says, "I am not setting any record. I work on something and give my best.

"Now that the shooting of Ek Tha Tiger is over, I am concentrating on every shot of Dabangg 2. I don't think about what the result will be, or what would be the TRP ratings of the show, or the box office results. All I try to do is give my best at that given point of time. If your work is appreciated then these things follow," he says.
