'The glamorous image you see is not the real me'

She's the hottie who made her debut in Pooja Bhatt's Paap and starred in a breakthrough role as a femme fatale in Zeher, which also starred Emraan Hashmi and Shamita Shetty.

Now, the former model is ready with her latest movie, an action one at that, titled Chase.

Here's what she has to say about the movie which releases on Thursday. Excerpts:

What is Chase about?

The movie is an action-packed thriller; Sohail (Anuuj Saxena) is an accused in a murder case and wants to prove his innocence. He is on the run from the police, who are convinced that he is the culprit. I play a nurse assigned to take care of him.

How was your experience working in an action movie like Chase?

I love to watch action movies. I enjoyed doing all the action scenes -- swimming under water and lots of running. We ran for three days through a jungle with a pack of hungry dogs after us. It was fun.

The films you have done so far are either crime-based or thrillers. Is it intentional?

You don't do anything unintentionally; you do what you are given at that time.

With every thriller my character and look are different. In Chase I have a simple look with pony tail and a hair band where as in Aksar [movie with Dino Morea] I had a glamorous look. 

As long as the character and look are different it really doesn't matter if it's the same genre. But now, I am looking forward to doing a happy romantic film where I can just be myself. I want to play a girl my own age, who loves to have fun.

Do you want to experiment with de-glam roles?

I am a very simple in real life. I am always in jeans, t-shirt and pyjamas. I am not comfortable wearing short skirts. I have no problems with the glamorous image they are referring to. But the only hitch is that it's not the real me. I don't blame people for that because that is what they see on screen.

Then, why do you end up doing such roles?

Everything I do is not out of choice. It's just by chance that I got these kinds of roles after my first film. Let's be practical; I have a western face and I can't help it. Nobody is going to cast me in sweet Indian girl roles, no matter how much I want to do it.

Which is the best film you have done so far?

I will sum it up in one word; Paap, because it's my first film. No matter how great I am in other movies, Paap will always remain special to me.

Also we have shot in a place where only the Discovery Channel must have gone. It is higher than Leh in Ladakh, a different place all together.

What are your career plans?

I don't plan my career. If I get good movies I do it and if I don't, it doesn't matter because I don't have to  prove myself to anyone.

The number of films I act is a matter of personal choice. I have just done movies that have appealed to me and which I believe in. If I work to please people then I'll probably have to work all the time.

I could have signed up multiple movies where I was just there for song and dance routine, but that's not me. I can't do just any movie coming my way. Even if I don't have movies, I keep busy doing stage shows and performances in different parts of the world.

But I will maintain being the person I am. I am sure of one thing -- I have not changed in the last seven years. I don't like to go to parties and award functions because it's just not me.

How do you keep yourself busy?

Let me share with you something -- I have studied only till the 12th standard but I have always felt the need to complete my graduation as speaking proper English is not everything.

You need to study to understand things around you better. A degree really helps. That's why I decided to do my B.Com. I have restarted studies just a month ago and I have started taking classes from a teacher in Mumbai.

I am enjoying studying. I intend to complete the three-year course in one year as my teacher insists I should do so. And then maybe I will do MBA later.

How do you deal with all the link-ups?

I have not been linked with anybody other than this one guy [director Mohit Suri].

What are your forthcoming projects?

I play a spy in movie The Man with Sunny Deol and Shilpa Shetty.

Then there is Hello India with Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta. I have also signed two other films but I will wait for the producers to make those announcements.
