Dileep and Kavya Madhavan were one of the most successful pairs in Malayalam cinema till the latter got married and stopped acting. They will be seen in this week's release, Vellaripravinte Changathi , directed by Akku Akbar.

"This is a cinema-within-cinema format. It's about a film made in the 1970s by a director named Augustine Joseph. The film had two newcomers, Shajahan (Dileep) and Mary (Kavya Madhavan). Their characters were called Ravi and Sulekha. During the shooting, the couple falls in love.

"Unfortunately, the film had to be shelved because of financial problems and the actors were forgotten. The director committed suicide and the actors never faced the camera again," says Akku Akbar describing the plot of the film.

The film is based on a script by G S Anil. The cast includes Manoj K Jayan, Indrajith, Sai Kumar, Mamukoya, Maniyanpillai Raju and Ramu.

Indrajith plays the role of a man who works in a lab and finds an old film can. It is then that the lives of the actors who began acting in the film with lots of dreams, slowly unveils.

A still photographer named Varikkoli master narrates certain events that happened during those times.

Vellaripravinte Changathi is produced by Chandvi Creations. The cinematographers are Vipin Mohan and Sameer Haq. The music director is Mohan Sithara and the songs have been well appreciated already.

Akku Akbar has earlier directed the superhit film Veruthe Oru Bharya. His last film, Kana Kanmani, was a flop.

Says Akbar, "I have been involved in the making of this script for the past one-and-a-half years and I think the film has turned out to be a really different one."

Dileep is acting in Lal Jose's Spanish Masala which is ready for release and is currently shooting for Shyamaprasad's Arike. He is all set to launch Viji Thampy's Nadodi Mannan and Jose Thomas's Maya Mohini.

Dileep says, "Variety in a role like this one is always exciting for an actor."

Kavya played Mammootty's heroine in last week's release Venice ile Vyapari.

"I wanted to be part of this film right from the moment I heard the story," says an upbeat Kavya. As it's a Christmas release, much is expected of Vellaripravinte Changathi.
