Your Views: Why are all giving these type of stupid comments. All teams had times like the one that is facing by Indians. For instance look at the mighty West Indies of late 70's and now. They are also in bad state now. So never try to make our teams moral low. We all should back this team and give a helping hand in getting out from this situation. Every one are critisising Ganguly, when he is not playing well. Think of those emphatic wins that this team have given in the recent past. I have to say that this is bad habit. When any one plays well then he will be praised to sky and when he is not he will be put under the Earth. So instead of blamming on our Cricket team give solutions to get out of this for them. Thats all I have to say.

Your Views: The players should continue endorsing for the products. However, as they are playing for their country & also earning more than a sportsperson deserve, so 75% of their endorsement money should be utilized by the government, which can be in a way help in India's Economy or can be even used for developing our country. Some amount of it's share in that should also be used for freedom fighters. Government must use their endorsement money to increase their salaries & give them a more confortable life.

Your Views: Since all the players are getting more than sufficient money from Advt, they are not bother to play well. Their aim is to get money as much as they can. The target is now money and not the game. All the players are not even understanding that entire nation is looking their game, and they are not ashamed of their irresponsible game. In my opinion, all the players whose performance is not good, should not get their dues from the Indian Cricket Board.

Your Views: Let's step into the shoes of the cricketers and analyse the situation for ourselves. Well, let me put myself in Tendulkar's shoes and analyse. I am involved in a net-practice for some upcoming series. While I am practicing in the nets, it's foolish for people to think that I will be dreaming about the PEPSI ad and the money that I will be getting out of it. Obviously, I will be concentrating on my net-practice while when I am shooting for the ad, I won't be thinking about cricket. A professional has to think in that fashion only. On a day when I am doing net-practice, I am not involved in any ad, so where is the question of 'excessive concentration' on endorsements. And finally, I also know that if I don't play well, all the endorsements will vanish since my celebrity status will collapse. So, I am of the belief that the poor performance has very less to do with 'excessive concentration' on endorsements and more to do with my 'repetition of the same mistakes' again and again. Analyse carefully and you will realise that it's been a batting failure, not a bowling failure. As for the public outrage, it's a result of the players 'earning in millions but playing like villians' syndrome.

Your Views: Performance in any field is not related with how much & how many benefits you get from that profession.Depending on once ability one should be allowed to earn for his/her future. Performance depends on whether you like and are honest with your duties. Most importantly it is related to whether you love your motherland ( word 'motherland' is more significant than nation ). So number of adds doens't matter , if our cricketers are committed to their duties towards our nation like soldiers do. This is applicable to all indians. Every body critisizes cricketers as they are celebrities and representing our nation at international level. IT IS OUR DUTY TO REMIND THOSE WHO ARE REPRESENTING OUR NATION AT INTERNATIONAL LEVEL , NOT TO DAMAGE IMAGE OF OUR NATION BY MERELY RUNNING BEHIND THE MONEY. at the same time in life we must try to do something which will make India to be proud atleast our mother will become proud of us.

Your Views: I don't think so. The player's endorsements should not be affecting their game. They are professional enough to distinguish between the two. However, the only thing that can be done is that the match fee should be made performance based and neither of the playing eleven should feel they are indispensable. So once out of the Indian team, no company would associate them with their brand. Just as what happened to Azharuddin and Jadeja.

Your Views: Hi! Every one, In my view, there is no direct relationship between Ad and Performance. But, there is direct& solid relationship in money wise. The advertisement companies inerfere in quality of the Indian Cricket team, which deters many excellant players entering into the Indian Team. So, please do not buy products, which are promoted by players of the indian team. This is the shortest & immediate solution to bring the indian team on track.

Your Views: Endorsements definitely affect players performance. The sheer fact that they make so much of money from endorsments as compared to cricket, make them place endorsements ahead of cricket. This will happen to anybody. You might be a teacher working in a school. However once tuition starts to earn you a lot more than what the school pays you, you will obviously put your tuition classes ahead of the school classes and your tuition pupils ahead of your school pupils.

Your Views: I will hundread percent agree with this that endorsements effecting players and team. They have to concentrate more on playing and practicing games instead of spending time in studioes. It is equally true in case of sports also that concentration with dedicated hardwork brings win. Here the statememnt by Bedi is to be nothed that money will automatically come if they win and brings cheers to country. If one is more dedicated to game they wont aim for supersix but final cup. It shows there are not determinent. Team should aim on cup. Capable or not does not matter, one should aim top.

Your Views: Frankly speaking if Indian team really want to perform well they do either stop doing commercial advertisement other wise they should quit. Because there are 1 billion people sentiments are behind the 11 players. Here when loose people have heart attack or they broke their televisions or they go into depression. Pl. convey this message pl. people are watching matches not going to their work they about their financial losses in front of countries pride so I request Indian Team try to play as many as ground shorts I know its very easy to say but it is not immpossible .Michel bevan plays mostly ground shorts that's why his current avg. is more than 62. RAHUL Dravid try to play in same style.Thats why he stays more time to the crease than any other player. I again request to all the player try to play as many as ground shorts which will be really help ful to our team it hence it will save so many human being lives.

Your Views: I think Indian public have over reacted for the performance of the Indian Cricket Team Indeed, it was a rank bad performance. But pointing out the reason of endorsements affecting the performance is a bit too harsh. Cricket life of any body, normally spans a period of 5 to 10 years. So there is nothing wrong in posing for endorsements. Care should be taken that they should not spill over on to the Cricket field. Each Cricketer should be made accountable for their performance. With this way, one can be sure of having his feet on the ground.

Your Views: This issue is being debated for very long, much before the World Cup 2003 begun. The answer for this question is not that straightforward "YES" and "NO". After all, the national players have a career span of few years, and if they don't do endorsements during the heyday, they will be on the streets begging few years after their retirement from sports. In this given context, everyone agrees to the argument that there has been an overkill. But what looks pathetic to me in the current ad campaign is the way the star mothers are used to boost the morale of their sons. These ads are totally in bad taste, and they should not be put on air at all any more. The greedy sports agents must be asked to pay for creating the sports icons sitting in the studi, rather than producing them on the field. There should be some regulatory body for the checks and balances before the greedy towers comes down tumbling down at once. The administrators shoud take note of the fact and initiate action so save the sport from the selfish elements. Unless addressed as sooner as possible, the entire episode might grow to the proportion of match fixing.

Your Views: Ofcourse, excess endorsement, media glamour, celebrety status &huge bucks affect adversely performance of any individual & more of sport's person because they need highest concentration in the field. We, in India have made them demigods. They are characterising behaviour of affluenza(disease of being rich). Any affluent individual, by nature will not work hard, lacks concentration, not needy, become casual & confidence of INDEPENDEANCE will result into situation as being displayed by Indian players. They were not like this but all these hoopla have made them. They have worked hard in against Zimbave to avoid face saving situation while on return to India. They should be made very clear, that they are not indispensible, fear of dismal performance should always be there in their minds. Your Views: Yes, certainly the endorsements plays the spoilsport in the Indian Team. Due to this, players get less time to practice for real game of cricket. It seems that they are quiet interested in making money by means of Ad films rather than playing cricket. The real passion for cricket is slowly diminishing out as the Indian team plays very well only in Ads. It's quiet embarassing display by the Indian Team and it's annoying that they doesn't bother much about the people who follow them closely throughout the world. The players should be completely deprived from Ads which will enable them to put some more effort in their game.

Your Views: Sir, Everyone will agree that Indian team is one of the best in the world. But should the hype be created around it, by endorsing companies?, for Indian team before they achieve something. Before achieving means that before they win world cup. It would be a bad pratice if players are pampered before they achive thier GOAL. And cycologically players would get over confidence which can abvioiusly hamper the performance of the team.It would make sense, if they are given the hype after they win world cup. Players also should realize that people will admire them for their performance and not by the ads. Cricket players are gifted with talent, which they should not misuse it for money.

Their irresponsible criticism, rather than anything else is weighing them down. The media and business houses are responsible for every indian defeat. The cricketers and us, the true fans are responsible for every single victory. Let them play and shut the media up. We can see and understand the matches. The ones who dont, cricket is better off without them. Boys feature in as many ads you want and dont worry about the critics, they'll spit and sip their words. All the best guys and enjoy your time.

So players should keep one thing in their mind that untill and unless they don't play good enough they won't get any further advertisement contracts. So basically players should practice more in the nets and try to do something new which will help them to increase their positive performance and at the end of the day may be they will receive new advertising contract or contract renewal copy.

In a way it was good that we lost and people now have come out of their craze for arguably most overrated, overpromoted and overpaid team and are paying attention to real issue. There is a war on in kashmir and india has lost 51 soldiers and officers. They are fighting at a height of 17000 ft. It is -5 to -30 deg C in inclement weather there. The intruders, 80% of whom are pak army soldiers, are at the top of mountain and our brave soldiers are actually climbing those mountains with rope against the fire. Some figures that may shock you: An Indian air force flight leiutanant is paid Rs. 1200 flying allowance per month and he is supposed to make 40 sorties in aging Migs. That is about Rs.25 per sortie after taxes. If he dies his family gets paid Rs. 2 lakh. The man of the match in any World Cup team gets 3000 pounds, about Rs.2.1 lakhs. When flying over Kargil at 18000 ft he is just 1000 ft above intruders armed with american stringer missiles and can easily be shot down. Yet, they do it. Your Views: Every one will be empathic with the cricketers (read it as Indian cricketers) to cash their fame by endorsing the products. But cricketers should draw a line for that. Just by winning a game (out of 50+ games played every year) a cricker start looking for signing more endorsements and contracts. The reason could be two. 1. He beleives that the fame should be cashed immediately because he may not repeat the same performance. 2. there is nothing going to take him out of team atleast for 50more pathetic performances. Leaving one player in Indian team, no one really cares about winning the game. its in contast with the players of other nations, practicing the new methods to attack the opponetnts, improving their play.

The only conflicting point is when to endorse, it should never confict with your matches or your camps or practice schedules. So the solution lies in the hands of BCCI. BCCI should properly schedule the matches & endorsements by a tripartiate discussions between themselves the players,& the companies.

Your Views: I think this question has been asked time and again (mainly by ex-cricketers who didnt have the privelege of even doing a cycle commercial or media who just likes to over-hype matters). The truth is that unless a cricketer perform, no sane corporate would endorse them. After all corporates only target successful cricketers so as to derive the maximum mileage out of them. So i'm sure the cricketers are also aware of this. In fact if they succeed even more, they will get more value for endorsing products. If endorsements are a distraction, then why is Tiger Woods the number one golfer for so many years. He is the world's biggest earner in brand endorsements. So why do people object to cricket endorsements in India is unexplainable. In fact, i would go one step further and say that Cricket in India is still an undersold sport. How else would you explain that in a country of 1 billion, Tendulkar gets around 5 million dollars whereas a Tiger Woods gets 50 million dollars per annum in endorsements although the population of US is 1/3rd of India. Would anybody care to explain?

Your Views: Dear Sir, I do believe endorsing a line of products has effected the performance of the players. Most players come from middle class families. They couldn't have imagined seeing so much money in thier lifetime. That's the kind of money they make in a year. That sets in a trend, necessity for financial rewards turns to greed. Further, the board board president is a crook, businessman and a marwadi at that. What else can you expect? In the indian context almost every player has come up with the recommendation of some ex-player or being a 'chela' of some influential person, that's where the rot sets in and accoutability goes for a six. Moreover these players are under pressure to sign ads in some cases to please their bosses in and outside the cricketing fraternity that have 'helped' them in in their professional activity. My suggestion, check the rot in the management that runs the board, they're the criminals, without their consent nothing can possibly happen. The Sports channels seem to be influenced by the advertisers, with Mr.Harsha Bogle and his bunch of jokers running serials on tendulkar like he was god. This has to end, the rating system is a joke. Stop this nonsense.

I feel all the Big Brands should equally encourage all sportive sections...in the sports arena. Endorsement with MNCs/brands making our cricketers to divulge their valuable practice-sessions time for advertisements. They might be thinking what is wrong in spending some time with the advertisements, but the use of this colourful time on advertisements forces them into participations and introduces other glamorous relations. It becomes necessary for them to attend most of the events of that particular brand. Most importantly, if this endorsements becomes more, already half-of-their mind roams around partying etc., also attracts the glimpse world and their attitude may get commercialised. In view of this, it is always shows nagative impact on their performance... Its' better to frame some Terms by BCCI for every cricketer.....

But they should remember its the craze for their game that brought company's to their door steps to be as brand ambassidors.and they should not let thier practice sessions or during any tour to do ad's. as when ur playing under a nations flag u should keep nation's interesrt in mind and give it more importance than to any corporate's endorsements. Players should adjust their schedule so that doing ad's will in any manner let their concentration level down.

Your Views: Well it is not fair to link performance with their concetration on endorsing brands or something else.Well we all are bound to earn and that is their way of earning money and in sports up and downs are quite common, infact this is the the same team that beat Australia in 2000-2001 .It happens. So being a citizen of india we should extend our moral support to them even in bad times.

Your Views: If they remaim too much occupied shooting ads, then to some extent their performance may be affected because they would be compromising on their training and also loose focus of their main profession which coincidentally turns out to be an obsession to the point of being a religion with the Indian people. But realistically speaking, our cricketers are just not good enough to perform well overseas and the public is expecting something which they are simply not capable of delivering. So, it can be safely concluded that more than ads it is the traditional weakness on bouncy pitches coupled with a lack of mental toughness that is affecting their performance. This will be proved no sooner India plays a series at home. They'll be tigers again, no matter how many ads they do. We all know that actors can deliver only on the celluloid screen, similarly our famed paper tigers can deliver on flat dusty tracks with their mamas and papas around.

Your Views: Please read Mr.S.Gurumurthy's article on this subject in 'The New Indian Express'of 21st Feb. He has exhorted Sachin to follow the example of Gopichand in saying "NO' to endorsements. The jealousy amongst the players as a result of endorsements is damaging the team-spirit and leading to selfishnes. We can guess the mutual dislike Sachin and Saurav have for each other. Stop endorsements please, for God's sake, for cricket's sake!

Your Views: I think endorsements and the sums involved have impacted performance. It appears that "commercial" considerations are top-of-mind, and not performance; moreover the money involved seems to have made some senior players arrogant and unwilling to accept criticism. These, coupled with our 'policy' of not dropping senior non-performers (unless they mess up things for an extended period of time) have instilled a sense of complacency in the team.

Your Views: yeah, i think they'll definitely perform well, if they stop doing Ads. In one of the interviews in AajTak (New Channel), one of the Marketing expert was saying that in the last 6 months, our indian cricketers had spent 70 days on the sets of the Ads. So, naturally we can't expect good cricket from them. They've to play cricket for country. They might have earned lot in Advertisements. Now its time for them earn good name and Cup for the Country and the 500 crore Indians. JAI HIND

Your Views: Such endorsements are doing great disservice to the cricket in particular and nation as a whole. Payers feel when they get more money through such media gimmicks thae why they should play at all. Media and Ad agencies should also feel responsibility as their brand will definitely be boycotted by all of us. One win is not enough. Untill and unless they bring the cup home we will not touch pepsi and any brand endorsed by cricketers.

Your Views: I don't think so.They would continue performing the way they've been doing, no matter they feature in less or more ads. But, it is really irritating looking at these ads after a poor show by the Team. The ads project them as super heroes and on ground itz the other way.Well, it is up to these products to schedule the ads in a way that the people won't get frustrated with the product at the same time with the players.Itz a well known fact that our cricket team is famous for being consistently inconsistent, you never know when/where againt whom we can win and lose. These endorsements definitely has got nothing to do with our show on the field.I can bet that we will continue to show performances like the one against Australia , Holland etc even if they don't feature in any ads.I think it is a waste of time if the motive of triggering this discussion is to help out our cricket team by criticizing their participation in the advertisements.I would infact ask the companies to be extra careful in signing up our guyz for advertisements as they have more to loose for no fault of theirs.Team needs to get strong mentally and learn from the past mistakes which i thinkis most important Good luck

Your Views: This same team was performing well in Natwest and Champions Trophy (that time they all were having one or other endorsements). Now, ICC has taken their (Players) share of income to their (ICC's) kitty by getting their signature in agreement. Their career is just 10 or 15 years. One should not think that they are earning too much or concentrating too much. If they are not performing well, naturally all these endorsement will stop. In fact, extensive cricket has created this kind of situation. Too much of matches they are playing now a days. Once they are retired no fans or companies are going to knock their doors. They have to milk the cow when it is available plenty. Those who talk too much about their endorsement are doing it because of jealousy as they were not getting much opportunities during their time.

Your Views: Earning Money should not be final destination of any Indian Cricket Team Player. As you know Cricket is religion in India and anything wrong with performance of players will be serious matter. This needs to be stressed when endorsement are finally signed by the players and they should not give much time to endorsing brands. What i feel, when event like World cup is going on, players have to take game seriously and they have to perform at least their level of cricket. Here i would say, they are signing advertisements because of their performance in game and popularity in cricket lovers not viceversa. Without good performance they stand at ordinary people level.

So they need not worry about their employer. 5)They are not afraid of anybody even they failed. 6)All the players are failed. 7)Today they are afraid of their and their family lives at home. 7)They played very cautiously because they want to escape. Why not the same attitude at the beginning of the tournament. Thank you, Raghav

Your Views: No. i dont think endorsements affect the performance of the players. After all cricket is their first love. What they are doing is just making use of this talent to earn money, and i dont think that there is any harm in this. They are getting this only after years of hard work.

Your Views: Yes, they are more concentrating on endorsements then cricket because they are earning more from advetisements as compare to cricket so there mind is more on them. But they forgewt onething if cricket will not be there they will not be there. due to cricket only they are famous and if they perform like this way the day is not far away when they will be out from team. and the day they are out they will be out advertisement also thus they will be on street. they are so selfish, that if they are out from world cup also they will not lose anything,as they have already earn enough. take a case of ICC mini world cup at colombo, you know why they reach final, because due to clause of ICC they have loosed big crunch of there money so they have to compensate by winning it. I suggest to stop paying anything extra match fee they will definately win it.
