Ever since conditional access system for cable TV viewing looked closer to becoming a reality, prices of media stocks have risen. But the same positive sentiment is not shared by the consumers.

The broadcasters have yet to declare the rates of the pay channels, availability of enough set-top boxes is questionable and the consumer is in the dark about what the total cable TV package may finally cost.

The government has, however, assured that cable TV viewing will now cost around Rs 200. Do you think CAS, to be implemented from July 15, will benefit you?
