Video: Coimbatore students design robot for moon missions

A group of students from Coimbatore have designed a robot that is capable of conducting specific lunar missions. Check the video above to find out more about the robot and their mission.

How often have we as children seen the open sky and dreamed of reaching the stars someday?

Well, a group of students from Coimbatore are actually living the dream, or at least a part of it.

The students belonging to a local school have designed a robot capable of conducting lunar missions as part of the international competition held by Google Lunar X Prize.

The robot is designed to carry out lunar missions that enable it to pick handful of ice cubes and deposit them in the lunar base at the moon's South Pole in the projected year of 2042.

The competition, being held in various parts of the world, will assess the ability of the participants who are to design robots for carrying out functions on the moon.
