The 5 Ancient Tibetan Rites produced by Temple Wellness are a set of yogic practices that help one look and feel younger. Check them out.

Those who know her will tell you that there is a lot more to Raageshwari Loomba has more to her life than Bigg Boss. The popular singer was once one of the most popular VJs and was known for her live-wire performances.

Then one day, she was diagnosed with Bells Palsy, a condition that left one side of face paralysed and distorted.

Over the years, after consistent practice of yoga, mediation and a balanced life Raageshwari resurrected herself back in action.

The Five Rites are an ancient set of yogic practices which are predominantly used by Tibetan monks.

These potent rites were formulated over 2500 years ago, and were first revealed to the world by a retired British army officer who went high into the Himalayas to learn the rites from the monks.

Subsequently, a book called the Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth was published by Peter Kelder.

The book was aptly titled, since the rites in essence slow down the ageing process and fill one with a dynamic youthful energy. As a result one can accomplish a lot more, and one looks and feels young despite the passing years.

The DVD is available on Sa Re Ga Ma (www.saregama.com).

The body has seven key Chakras or Vortexes, which work like magnetic centres and they revolve at great speed in the healthy body.

According to the Tibetan lamas, abnormal Vortexes (Chakras) lead to an impaired Endocrine system, sluggish metabolism, weight gain, ill health and premature aging. Since the Five Rites work primarily on realigning our Chakras and optimising their speed, they are the quickest way to regain health, youth, and vitality.

The seven main Chakras govern the functioning of the Endocrine system which in turn is responsible for the body's overall functioning and aging process. The Five Rites activate all the Chakras dissolving any blocks and getting the life energy flowing again throughout very cell in your body.

As a result, your body's cellular intelligence corrects any hormonal imbalances acquired over the years due to pregnancy, dieting, a sedentary lifestyle, stress, medications and aging.

By stimulating the Endocrine system and the circulation of vital life energy or Prana throughout the body, the Five Rites energise and bring about a complete harmony within our physical, mental and emotional states.

RITE 1

Slows ageing, increases energy

The Speed of the Chakra spin is a key to vibrant health. The first rite works on all 7 Chakras by coordinating their spin so they are in complete harmony. It distributes pure Prana energy to the endocrine system, and in turn to all organs and processes in the body which is one of the major requirements for vibrant health, rejuvenation and youthfulness. It is the key rite to re set one's body to optimum functioning.

RITE 2

Induces vitality and strength

The second rite works mainly on the Manipura or Solar plexus Chakra, situated in the abdominal region.

This Chakra is the centre of Vitality and Vigour. It also regulates the functioning of the pancreas and digestive organs.

As a result it's curative in curing digestive disorders, diabetes and fluctuations in blood pressure. This rite also strengthens the abdominal muscles and acts as a powerhouse by constantly supplying vitality and bestowing balance and strength.

RITE 3

For joyfulness and flexibility

This rite energises the Vishuddhi or throat Chakra which activates the pituitary & thyroid glands.

Harmonisation of these two major glands regulates the metabolism rate, controls water balance in the body via the control of re absorption of water by the kidneys & optimises the functioning of our sexual organs.

On an emotional level it fills one with a feeling of unlimited happiness and freedom that allows our abilities and skills to blossom. It also alleviates anxiety and suppressed fears. This rite also strengthens the spinal column and makes one more flexible.

For clarity and development

The fourth rite works on the Swadisthana or Sacral Chakra associated with our reproductive organs.

It activates our lower abdominal and pelvic area, thereby awakening our sexual energy, and general state of pleasure.

It also strengthens the lower back. When this Chakra is harmonised it brings clarity and development of a strong personality.

This rite also helps weed out our negative base qualities that hinder our development.

Do's and don'ts

  • For the first week, do each of the Five exercises three times only if you are relatively healthy and fit.
  • If you are inactive, overweight, or have health problems begin these exercises doing any one of the first three rites each day, and continue only if you feel totally comfortable doing so.
  • 21 times is the maximum of each exercise you should ever do. If you want to enhance your program, do the exercises at a faster pace, but do not so more than 21 times of each exercise each day. Doing more than 21 repetitions of each exercise in any day will affect your Chakras negatively and can crate imbalances in your body.
  • The Five Rites may stimulate detoxification and often create many unpleasant physical symptoms. This is why it's recommended to increase the number of each exercise gradually on a weekly basis.
  • If you do not exercise regularly, start with walking and stretching exercises.
  • A sugar-free and low fat diet is an important support when integrating the Five Rites exercise program into your life.
  • Do the Five Rites every day. The maximum you should skip is one day each week. If the exercises are done less than six days each week, the results will be greatly reduced.
  • If on certain days your time is limited, do the repetitions of each exercise. This takes less than five minutes.
  • For maximum benefit, do the exercises before breakfast in the morning, if possible. If not do them anytime during the day.
