In 1980, Brooke Shields became the youngest model to have appeared on the cover of Vogue.

In the same year, she also appeared in controversial print and television commercials for Calvin Klien Jeans.

She was only 14 at the time.

But Brooke Shields had been modelling for a long time before that -- her first commercial was when she was 11 months old and she continued working as a child model before she made it big in the business.

Like many models Shields too made a foray into films and starred in several films, including The Blue Lagoon (1980).

Despite being academically gifted, Stone took the advice of a pageant judge, quit her education and moved in with an aunt in New Jersey to become a fashion model.

In four days Ford Modelling Agency signed her up and she was in business.

Stone, who had a bit role in Woody Allen’s Stardust Memories is now set to appear alongside the great actor-director in the recent movie Fading Gigolo.

We remember her for Malena and we remember for appearances in The Matrix movies.

But the Italian supermodel began her career at 13 when a local photographer took her pictures. By the late ‘80s, she had moved to Milan where Elite Model Management signed her up and before long she became a familiar face not just in Italy but also in Paris and New York City.

She has been featured on several ‘hottest’ lists and remains as enigmatic as her character in Malena.
